Test your Arabic typing speed

Type the short Arabic passage below, then review your speed and accuracy.

Passage 1 of 3

اللغة العربية جميلة ومليئة بالمعاني الدقيقة

What this test actually measures

Three numbers tell you almost everything about your Arabic typing. Improve each one and the rest follows.

WPM (words per minute)

Calculated against character count to reflect Arabic word length fairly, not English-style estimation.

Accuracy

Percentage of characters typed correctly the first time. Tracked grapheme-by-grapheme so diacritics count.

Diacritics readiness

Our lessons train you to type tashkeel (harakat) cleanly so your writing is correct, not just fast.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how the Arabic typing test works.

What is a good Arabic WPM?
Beginners usually land between 10–20 WPM, intermediate Arabic typists hit 30–50 WPM, and advanced typists exceed 60 WPM. Accuracy matters more than raw speed early on — aim for 95%+ before chasing higher WPM.
Does this test require diacritics (tashkeel)?
No, this public test uses unvowelled prompts so anyone can try it. The full course introduces mandatory diacritics from Unit 2 onwards, where they're part of the accuracy score.
What keyboard layout does this use?
The standard Arabic 101 layout — the default on Windows and macOS Arabic input. The same layout the full course teaches.
Is the test really free?
Yes — no card, no signup. Create a free account only if you want to save your results and continue with the structured lessons.
How is accuracy calculated?
Every character you type is compared against the expected character. We track correct vs. incorrect graphemes (including diacritics in lessons) and report the percentage live.
Can I save my results?
Create a free account and your results, daily-challenge history, and lesson progress are all saved automatically across devices.
